If you have ever stared at a pile of questions late at night and wished they would simply turn into a real exam, you already understand why QUIZ-WORLD exists. This is how it began, how many times it broke, and why it kept going.
In my first year of MBBS I started collecting the things students kept asking each other for: lecture slides, notes, books, past papers. I put them in one organised Google Drive so nobody had to dig through scattered chats at midnight.
I kept going in second year, and again in third. By then much of my class used it, and later more than half of the juniors too. Most of them never knew how many hours sat behind a folder that simply opened.
Something can quietly help hundreds of people without its maker ever being thanked. That stung a little, and it taught me what I actually wanted: to leave behind something that would still be useful after I graduated.
CHAPTER 2 · THE NIGHT IT STARTED
I just wanted to practice like it was the real exam.
It was module-exam season in second year. I was doing MCQs and thinking about how a real paper feels: one question, one choice, next, next, until the end. But for my own practice questions, the ones I had gathered or refined with AI, I could not find a simple place to paste a whole set and sit it like an exam.
I did not want to type every question and every option one by one. I wanted to paste the lot and have a page turn it into a quiz. That was the entire idea. Paste. Answer. Get feedback. See the result.
I was not a programmer. I learned as I went, with the AI tools available at the time, which were far from perfect, and a lot of patience.
THE FIRST VERSION
Plain, purple and a little rough, but the whole loop was there.
The very first QUIZ-WORLD was a single HTML file. It took pasted MCQs, ran a timer, let you move between questions, finished the attempt and worked out your score.
These are the real first-version screenshots from the original file, not recreated mockups.
CHAPTER 3 · IT BROKE. OFTEN.
Every version failed in a way I had not imagined.
Real questions are messy. A number might be written three different ways, an option might wrap onto the next line, an explanation might be missing. A page that worked perfectly on one set would fall apart on the next because of a single extra dot. I spent more than a month teaching it to read like a person does, and it still was not perfect.
When I shared the file with friends, it looked different on every phone, and on an iPhone the styling simply did not appear. A tool meant to make studying easier was making people troubleshoot browsers. That is when I understood QUIZ-WORLD could not be a file. It had to be a website.
Every failure pointed to the next step. A broken file became a website. A broken parser became a patient one. A frustrated study night became a feature.
CHAPTER 4 · YOUR CLASSMATES CHANGED IT
“Can you just make the quizzes for us?”
Some friends loved making their own quizzes. Many did not want to prepare or paste anything at all. They wanted ready-made quizzes they could open and start. So QUIZ-WORLD grew a library: past papers, topic sets, folders, descriptions, dates.
Past-paper questions were the hardest and the most valuable. Whenever MCQs came up in class I would photograph them, run the pictures through text recognition, clean the noise with AI, rebuild the questions, and add answers and explanations. Around the class I became the “AI guy”. What mattered more was that scattered, half-remembered paper questions became something a whole year could practice.
I also showed it to teachers. They liked the idea of students creating their own quizzes, and one raised a fair worry: a ready-made bank might make students study only what is on the website. I took that seriously. QUIZ-WORLD is a practice aid, never a replacement for studying widely, and that principle shapes how it grows.
CHAPTER 5 · NEVER BUILT ALONE
Many hands, and I want to name them.
I directed the product, tested it as a student, designed how it should feel and kept pushing each version forward. But I did not write every line, and I would never claim to. AI tools wrote a great deal of the code. Friends with coding knowledge helped, and I paid for some of the work. My friend Adan Tariq came up with the ideas behind the pen tool and the option-elimination feature that students now use every day.
Dark mode came from my own tired eyes, then a softer sepia mode in between. Saving a quiz so you could continue on your phone came from moving between my laptop and my phone. Almost everything in QUIZ-WORLD exists because someone, usually a student, hit a wall.
CHAPTER 6 · WHAT NUMBERS TAUGHT ME
Thirty thousand questions is not the same as thirty thousand ideas.
With AI I produced more than 30,000 medical questions for the library. It looked impressive. It also taught me a humbling lesson: a set of thirty questions can circle one narrow concept thirty times. Coverage, accuracy, variety, good explanations and exam relevance matter far more than a big number.
That is still unfinished work. Doing it properly takes time and careful review, and it is one of the things I most want to get right. I would rather tell you that plainly than pretend the numbers are the whole story.
CHAPTER 7 · KEEPING IT ALIVE
Free at first. Sustainable now.
For a long time everything was free, and I put my name and Instagram on what I shared as a small trace of who made it. Then the costs grew: hosting, tools, storage, help with development, and a great deal of time, all from a medical student’s budget. By third year I introduced paid access to some of the resources so the project could pay for itself and keep improving.
Payment was never the reason it started. It is the reason it can continue. Practicing prepared quizzes and building your own stays free.

THE NEXT CHAPTER
A classroom, built the same careful way.
QUIZ-WORLD began as practice for one student. The next step is a learning management system, the LMS, so teachers and students can create, assign, attempt and understand quizzes in one calm, simple place. It is still being built and tested, and I would rather open it carefully, beginning with teachers, than rush something that is not ready.
If a tool needs a manual, it is not finished. Everything in the LMS is being shaped to be obvious on the first visit.
FOR WHOEVER IS READING THIS AT MIDNIGHT
You are the reason it keeps going.
Maybe you are a first-year student with an exam on Monday and too many questions to sit through. Maybe you are a teacher who wants your class to practice without a mountain of paperwork. Maybe you are the person who will build the next thing I have not imagined.
I started because I was tired of a problem and thought someone should fix it. Nobody had to be asked twice once I realised that someone could be me. If you have a problem like that, I hope this page makes you feel the same. Notice it. Fix it. Share it.
I hope that when I leave college, this will still be here, still helping the student who comes after you. If it is, then the legacy I imagined in first year already exists, and you helped build it.
STILL EVOLVING
QUIZ-WORLD is not a monument. It is a working classroom.
Every stage has come from a real problem, honest feedback and a few people who cared. The next version should keep the same promise: useful first, simple always, safer as it grows.
